STaR Chart

STaR Chart (School Technology and Readiness Chart)
About STaR Chart
STaR Chart is an online, multiple-choice questionnaire to provide schools with the information they need for use in technology planning, budgeting for resources, and evaluation of progress in local technology projects.
Two Types of STaR Charts
1.  Campus STaR Chart - to be filled out by the campus principal
2.  Teacher STar Chart - to be filled out by the campus teachers.
The Teacher STaR Chart and Campus STaR Chart are both divided into the four Key Areas of the Long-Range Plan for Technology: Teaching and Learning; Educator Preparation and Development; Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support; and Infrastructure for Technology.
The Teacher STaR Chart provides supporting data for the Campus STaR Chart. The first two areas automatically feed the electronic version of the campus chart. This feature provides valuable information to the campus principal when completing the campus chart.
Why It Is Required!
Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, all Texas teachers are required to complete the online version of the Texas Teacher STaR Chart annually. Statewide reports from the Texas Teacher STaR Chart are used to report on progress toward fulfilling the requirements in No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D that all teachers should be technology literate and integrate technology across the curriculum.
In addition, Mathis ISD receives thousands of dollars in state and federal money each year.    Before MISD can apply for these dollars, the STaR Chart assessments must be completed and submitted online to TEA.
Who Is Required To Fill It Out
MISD professional personnel (teachers and administrators) are required to complete an "online" assessment of your campus' and district's efforts to integrate technology.
Where is My User Name and Password?
After logging into his/her account, the campus principal will send an email with user names and passwords to all active teachers on their campus. The teachers can then login at

Or teachers can enter their STaR Chart username in the Forgot Password link at The system will then send the password to their email address.
How to Fill Out The Chart
Using the STaR Chart Data

Integrating technology into the process of teaching and learning is complicated. It involves many essential elements such as the hardware and software present, the content available, the level of teacher professional development, and the degree of integration and use. In three easy steps, the Interactive STaR Chart can help determine where your school is today and where you want it to be tomorrow:

Step 1: Answer the following series of multiple choice questions.

Step 2: Print your STaR Assessment.

Step 3: Use your findings to work with staff, administrators, technology staff, parents and community leaders to develop a strategic plan for improving the integration of technology in your school.
