Mathis ISD is upgrading fire alarm systems in two buildings at Mathis High School to meet current fire code requirements. The new Mathis High School for International Studies modular building is being outfitted with safety equipment for the two science laboratories, and all systems upgraded to meet current codes. A new fire alarm system will be installed in the Mathis High School technology wing that houses the IT department and computer laboratories. The current fire alarm systems in all campus buildings are being connected to a central console in the Central Administration Building. The Safeguard Company is carrying out the upgrade work, which should be completed in September. Christopher Casarez, the Administrator of Service Operations, is available at 547-3378, ext. 134, if anyone has questions about the alarm system upgrades.
