Mathis ISD Seeking Referrals for Students for 2024-2025 Gifted and Talented Program

Mathis ISD has announced the referral process to identify students for the Gifted and Talented Program for the 2024-2025 school year. Referrals from parents, teachers, and students will be accepted from January 15 – 31, 2024.

The referral forms for new students are available from principals and school counselors at each campus. Students in the program do not need to be re-referred.

The Texas Education Code defines a ‘gifted and talented student’ as a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment, and who:

1) exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area.

2) possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
