The Mathis ISD School-Based Health Center (SBHC) provides health care services on-site to help students stay healthy and miss fewer classes. Services include diagnosis and treatment of minor illness, management of chronic conditions, sports physicals, migrant and HeadStart physicals, immunizations, flu shots, preventive oral health services, laboratory services and mental health and drug counseling.
Eligibility
The SBHC staff is happy to see any student with a completed enrollment form that has been signed by a parent. Students who are at least 18 years old, or who are married, or who live independently may sign permission for themselves.
The SBHC is open to all members of the Mathis ISD community, including members of student families, Mathis ISD faculty and staff, as well as the greater-community members. All students enrolled in Mathis ISD are seen at no cost if they have no insurance.
How We Can Help You
Help reduce the barriers to learning by providing and coordinating services to address the health needs of students so that they will become ready and able to learn. A healthy child is able to take advantage of all educational opportunities. "A Healthy Pirate is a Happy Pirate". Work with primary care physicians and families to manage chronic medical conditions.
Teach student the appropriate use of health care services
Provide assistance for enrollment in Medicaid, Chips.
What We Do
Diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and/or injuries; allergy injections.
Chronic illness management, including diabetes and asthma.
Immunizations:
Sports physicals, Migrant, HeadStart, THSteps, TB skin test, ADHA and ADD tests.
Mental health services, including counseling: behavioral, ADD & ADHA, substance abuse.
Laboratory services: Complete Metabolic Panel (CBC), CMP, LIPID, cholesterol, stool samples, diabetic analysis.
When and Where Are These Services Available:
SBHC hours are Monday thru Friday, all year: 8 a.m. until 12 noon. 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
